Four canoes go to Mark Ritchie's
I.S.D.S.I. group in Chiang Mai . . . .
Mark Ritchie is the Executive Director of the
International Sustainable Development
Studies Institute, a studies group affiliated with
the University of Michigan offering accredited
courses for students from the U.S. and other
countries in sustainable development.
. . . . an important part of sustainable
development is, of course, understanding and
appreciating a country's environmental setting
and natural resourses . . . . what better way
than to explore that setting via canoeing its
waterways.
And so we loaded up four
canoes . . . . Sam decided she
was coming along for the ride .
. . . and we headed north to
Chiang Mai . . . .
Hooray . . . we made it !!
The river was soon to disappear,
victim of a hydro-electric dam being
built downstream . . . . Mark and his
group decided to take the canoes
on an eco-adventure down the river
. . . . as part of an organized protest
against the dam.
Wow . . . . these canoes can really carry a load !!
|
. . . . all right, folks . . . . there's rapids ahead
|
Any conclusions ??
How about . . . . these are pretty tough canoes !!
