Building our floating dock . . . .
P. Guesthouse is just up the road from our shop, and the owners
are good friends .... we both wanted to make a few canoes available
for rental to the tourists .... but we needed a place for the canoes
.... a floating dock !!
So Brent did a little
figuring and came up with
a plan .... he decided to
be a little different and
use 10 inch PVC pipe for
floatation
Construction moved along, and the
dock took shape.  We installed racks
for 12 canoes or kayaks, a protective
bamboo roof, and a bench seat for
comfort
Time to move our
creation out of the
shop and to the lake
The path to the lake was down a steep road with about a 90 degree
bend, and houses on both sides.  All the neighbors were out to watch the
spectacle, including a few very nervous ones whose homes were straight
ahead at the bend.  The dock was heavy, and could have easily plowed
through a couple of homes before coming to rest.  We had only ropes
wrapped around trees to hold the dock back .... and raw people-power.
But the lake's edge
was close now
We finally made it !!
Under tow by a "long-tail" ....
on the way to P. Guesthouse
three canoes ....
waiting to be rented
The floating dock, the
lake at low water, and
the Mon temple
glistening in the distance
