About our canoes and kayaks . . . .
All our boats are hand-crafted using the proven
North American technique of strip-planking, with
natural wood sandwiched by both an outside and
inside layer of epoxy resin and fiberglass fabric.
This allows the beauty of the natural wood to
show through and produces craft that are
pleasing to the touch and eye, and yet are strong
and light-weight.
We have ready access to a variety of exotic
Southeast Asian woods, plus we import from
elsewhere in the world, and we have developed
several unique concepts and procedures that
make each of our craft one-of-a-kind, beautifully
attractive, and special.
A variety of woods are offered for our hulls:
young golden teak (new growth) which is
variously colored and grained .... a light-weight
and beautifully grained mahogany/brown colored
wood called "mai yawng home", the blonde "gra
bawk", and bamboo. Yes, bamboo !! We are the
only boat builder in the world to use bamboo for
this type of boat construction. The sign on our
shop gate reads "the home of the bamboo canoe".

We have innovated a form system using a combination of male-female frames cut
from thin-plate steel .... a system which allows us to form our hulls precisely and
without the use of any fasteners whatsoever .... not even temporary fasteners.
Our hulls do not show the unsightly staple holes that other assembly techniques
make necessary
